One of BrightHouse’s most valued values is The Beauty of Eloquence. So we invited two luminaries, experts in their fields, to teach us more about how we can summon the muses and bridge the communication gap. Cellist Okorie Johnson and playwright Jiréh Breon Holder joined us at BrightHouse for an inspiration session and we captured their best quotes in a video that will inspire you, too.

So why does eloquence matter? Paradoxically, it’s in the power to render a message both unexpected and inevitable.

It’s a gut punch. The enemy of clutter and cliché. A rejection of corporate speak and jargon; of the vague, the mediocre, the meaningless. A victory over the impossible – a cheating of death, because what is said right holds the past in one hand and the future in the other, to hold us enthralled in the present.
Eloquence scoops us out of complacency and plunges us into shared humanity. It is not language-bound. It does not live in the words uttered, but in the human truth laid bare. It reminds us, in one stroke, that what divides us is cosmetic. Visually, musically, kinetically, this broader eloquence is the triumph of beauty over boredom. It is the beating heart of communication.

As part of our continuing education, BrightHouse invites renowned thinkers from around the world to speak on the topics they know best. Here’s an excerpt from an expert, featuring cellist Okorie Johnson and playwright Jiréh Breon Holder exploring the Beauty of Eloquence together.

At BrightHouse, we believe that if it’s worth saying, say it right. If it’s worth showing, show it beautifully. If it’s worth doing, do it better.
